The Election Commission (EC) has ordered the authorities concerned to remove posters, banners and other campaign materials from five city corporations ahead of polls.

Md Atiar Rahman, Deputy Secretary of EC, issued a letter to this effect.

According to EC, election of Gazipur will be held on May 25; Khulna and Barishal on June 12 and Rajshahi and Sylhet on June 21.

The EC directed to take off posters, banners, writings on wall, billboard and gate, light works, election camps.

Local administrations and city corporations will have to remove the campaign materials before 12 am of last day of submission of nomination papers.

Moreover, aspirant candidates have been asked to remove the materials by their own expense.
